As excited as you may be to just jump right in and start importing the tens of thousands of images sitting on your hard drive I recommend you do a couple of things fist:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date.
- Clean house, you’ll need the free space. The key to Lightroom’s speed is that it creates preview files for the images you import. This preview cache is only going to grow, so take some time now to start with a clean(er) slate.
- Read the README file that comes with Lightroom. At least open it and scan through.
